CORRIE LIVE: Nowhere left to run

Is it me or has it been a bit quiet in soapland over the last few weeks. Apart from Emmerdale's brilliant Summer Fate, since EastEnders' live week in February, the people of soap have had a fairly straightforward ride. Well, as straightforward it can be in Walford, Weatherfield, Emmerdale farm and Hollyoaks village!

EastEnders are ramping up towards Kathy's explosive full-time comback, and Max's trial will continue its twists into next week, which is bound to be with a bang. Meanwhile, Hollyoaks are gearing up towards its October reveal of the Gloved-Hand killer on the 20th anniversary.

Nowhere left to run for the Platt's...
But right now, it's all happening up in Manchester at Coronation Street, where the live hour-long show will be happening on Wednesday.
Everyone loves a live, even people who don't religiously watch soaps tune in, just to see what occurs. And Corrie have promised a life-changing event for the Platt family, as Callum's reign of terror over them comes to a head.
Part me me thinks 'finally!' as Callum has been getting away with it all for too long. And now that little Max has seen his dad for what he really is after witnessing Callum's attack on Jason. And now that Callum's under pressure from a drug supplier to give him £20,000, the bad boy has been threatening and blackmailing the Platt's, who are about to have an extension on their house.

Last night's episode ended with desperate Callum being arrested for the attack on Jason, after Bethany retracted the alibi statement he blackmailed her into giving him.
Blackmail - that's a word thrown around a lot where Callum's involved, but will the live episode end in a more serious word. Like murder?

Tina O'Brien and Sean Ward, have revealed this morning (on This Morning, coincidentally!) that there will be a lot of action, outside scenes and with Gail's annex being built, will someone be thrown a-la Tina McIntyre to their death?
The storyline with Callum has got to end during this live episode, surely, and I can't see him leaving the family alone quietly, so will itbe Callum who ends up dead? And if so, who kills him?
It's easy to think David, who has had a bad streak himself in the past, but would now do anything to protect his family... But then it could be Sarah-Lou, who had a relationship with Callum before finding out herself about his true colours...
Then there's Kylie, who is at the end of her tether with her ex, and who also has a feisty streak when she needs to, along with Jason and Tony, who are still out for revenge of Callum, too.
Of course, Corrie could shock us all and kill off or seriously injure one of the long-standing, and much loved characters, like David, Gail, Sarah-Lou or Kylie. In soap, you've got to touch the audience, and what better way than putting one of the most famous faces in mortal peril?

Elsewhere, and on a lighter note, in the live will be Lloyd and Andrea's leaving do, as they set off for a new life in Jersey. But all isn't as straightforward as that, because Hayley Tammadon, who plays Andrea, has revealed that she and Lloyd will be back for an extra secret scene after the live (which has already been filmed)...
Then there's Sally and Kev's secret kiss which is going to be revealed to poor Tim and threaten the wedding of the year! More to the point, will Tim and Kevin's friendship survive the throwaway peck?

One thing's for sure, there are consequences galore in Wednesday's live...

And it'll now be even more special for Corrie producer Stuart Blackburn, as it's been revealed that he's soon to move on to other ITV Drama projects, with Emmerdale's producer Kate Oates taking over his role in he New Year. Yep - all change behind the soapland scenes, as Hollyoaks series producer Iain MacLeod will be taking over the helm at Emmerdale.

Wonder what changes on screen the new producers will surprise us with!
