One shocker and a funeral...

Soap fans will know that when EastEnders throws an hour-special in to the mix, something huge is going to go DOWN.

And tonight's Lucy Beale funeral spectacular, along with a bit of a Carter shocker, did not disappoint.

Adam Woodyatt gave yet another heartbreaking performance.

I would actually like to ask Adam how much of his emotion over these last few weeks on screen has been acting, and how much is real feeling, because it certainly looks from the heart to me. The man deserves every award going at the minute... But I must also mention Ben Hardy's performance as Lucy's twin Peter. It was stunning.

As only in soaps, both weddings and funerals alike can't go ahead without a whopper of a argument. And Ian certainly gave us - and Max - that. All before the funeral even begun.

In the words of Tamwar: "Only in Walford!"

And as for the home truths which were revealed over with the Carter clan... Who saw that one coming? (I must admit, I possibly might have...)

After Mick almost soaked Stan rotten in the bath tub, and just before the infamous 'duff duffs', we were left with the announcement that Shirley was the one who almost drown him as a child.

The next questions are -

Where do they all go from here?
Who left the 'Rot in Hell' card?
Will Christian return again?
Why does Mr Coker look so untrustworthy?
Is Shirley really Mick's mother?
Was it Abi who killed Lucy?
And if not...
Who the heck did?!

Coronation Street boss Stuart Blackburn yesterday said that although he hopes the Enders' murder mystery goes well, it's a "risk" to let the story go on for so long.
I had initially maybe thought the same, but with the twists still to come, I think it'll have one of the best outcomes in the show history.

I have nothing but praise for the brilliant Dominic Treadwell-Collins, his cast and crew.

Together they've brought our Enders back home, where it belongs.
