EASTENDERS - Congrats to Danny and Sam!

EastEnders stars Danny Dyer and Same Strike have won the Media Recognition prize at this year's Attitude Awards, for their portrayal of Johnny Carter's 'coming out' storyline.

This January, we saw Sam's character Johnny reveal to his dad, Mick, played by Danny Dyer, that he is gay - and Mick was instantly supportive of Johnny

Danny has, in he past, spoken of his pride in the scenes:

"That coming out scene was beautifully written and I've had many, many letters from young gay men who came out because of it. I love what I do as an actor because it's a great job, but things like that make you realise how much of an impact your work can have on people's lives when you're in a soap. I hadn't quite realised that and it's quite a life-changing thing."

The Carter family are currently going through a turbulent time, with Linda trying to come to terms with being raped by family member Dean Wicks, and Shirley going on the run for shooting Phil Mitchell.

Catch up with the latest going's on in Albert Square tonight at 7.30pm on BBC1...

The X Factor - Double Goodbyes and the Shining Overs

Last night we said goodbye to two of The X Factor finalists - Blonde Electra and Overload Generation.

Did you think the right two went home?

And more to the point - did you feel for poor Louis Walsh who has now been left with just two acts, compared to the other judges four...

Blonde Electra, of course, had the least amount of public votes and went directly out of the competition, while Overload Generation and Stephanie Nala fought it out in the sing-off, where Simon and Cheryl saved Steph (Simon said that he couldn't support an act (Overload Generation) that he didn't believe in!) Ooo-er... While Mel B, who picked Overload Generation as Louis' wild card, and Lou Lou saved the boy band.

At first glance, and before the sing-off, I would probably have sent Steph home - she lacks something for me and doesn't have much stage presence. I'm not sure if it's shyness, or lack of confidence, but she just sinks into the background...whereas the boys, I thought, could maybe grow.

But after the sing-off, it was clear that Steph had smashed it and, if I were a judge, I would have had to have saved her...

Saying that, unless she grabs some confidence and shines next week, I fear that she could be in trouble again...

The top performances for me came from the Overs. Fleur was fab, Ben was bangin', Jay got jiggy and Stevi - well, he was just Stevi, but that's why people love him!!

I've said from the get-go this year that the Over 25s would be the ones to watch and I stand by that...

For the Girls - Lauren Platt stood out most for me, even though I was first apprehensive about her covering 'Happy'. She put a great twist on it and it sounded like a new song, and Chloe Jasmine's rendition of Toxic was brilliant.

Andrea was what we all thought he'd be for the Boys, simply stunning, and Jake Quickenden bought the house down.

Only the Young have something good, and I hope they have time to grow, whereas Stereo Kicks (I'm not sure I like the name...) sound great, but it still all looks too much for me on the stage, with eight boys.

Next week is 80's week - and the whispers so far are that Stevi will be singing Addicted to Love, Only the Young will cover 'The Power of Love,' Jake Quickenden will sing 'Total Eclispse of the Heart and Chloe Jasmine will perform 'Call Me.'

Of course these can change - so check back here on Friday for the official Live Week Two song list...

EASTENDERS - Who's returning with a new face?

Last week EastEnders announced that an old character would be returning, with a brand new face... and this morning it was revealed that Martin Fowler was the face-lifted comeback.

James Bye is taking over the role of Sonia's hubby from previous actor James Alexandrou, and has said that 'it's an honour' to be joining the cast.

Executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins said that Martin's recasting had been done with James Alexandrou's blessing.

"With James Alexandrou's blessing - something which was very important to us - we have recast everyman Martin Fowler after extensive auditions... Our casting executive Julia Crampsie has found a genuine relatable London bloke in the talented James Bye and we are sure that viewers old and new will soon warm to Martin Fowler's charms as he returns home to Walford."

Martin is coming back to attempt to repair his marriage to Sonia, as well as see his daughter Rebecca, after the pair hit the rocks on Sonia's return.

Will the Fowler's marriage be fixed or will Martin's head be turned in a new direction?

HOLLYOAKS favourite films last scenes

Hollyoaks Dennis Savage will soon be leaving the village, as actor Joe Tracini has announced that he's filmed his final scenes as his 'awkward, chubby, fictional counterpart.'

Posting a set of photos on his Twitter page, Joe posed with his on-screen mates, Danny Mac,
Nick Pickard and Aydan Callaghan.

In a previous interview, Joe teased that while he couldn't say how Dennis would be leaving, he could 'make something up about him going to Switzerland to be a goat farmer if you like?'

With the arrival of Dennis' long-lost dad, Doctor Savage, it begs the question as whether he has anything to do with his son's departure?

Whatever happens... I hope Dennis isn't a victim of the upcoming horror train crash.

It's sad enough that a McQueen is likely to be lost in the aftermath of that...

It's Time to Face the Music

It's almost Christmas! And how do we know this? Well The X Factor live shows are about to begin...

In just over 24 hours, the 12 final acts - along with four wild card's - will take to the stage at Wembley's Fountain Studios to sing to the nation.

Who's excited?

Mel B has already announced that she's 'soooo happy' with her boys category, consisting of Jake Quickenden, Paul Akister and Andrea Faustini, and her wild card act, while Cheryl has announced that the girls - Lauren Platt, Chloe Jasmine and Stephanie Nala - are the best category by far!

I'm most looking forward to seeing Simon's Over 25's - and think that Jay James will do very well. Jay is joined in the Overs by Ben Haenow and Fleur East.
In the last few years the Over 25's have gone from being 'over the hill, no-ones's interested' acts to people who have a very good shot in the industry.

A comment on the TV yesterday made me laugh, which called the Overs the 'golden oldies.' The eldest contestant is Jay, and he's only 31!

The Groups - Blonde Electra (who changed their name at the last minute from Blonde Electric), Only the Young and the new boy-band, who were put together at bootcamp stage, also look good - especially because of the latter.

This is the first eight-piece group ever on the show - and their name has been picked by fans via Twitter, to be revealed tomorrow night.

I'm now off to try and sneak a peek at who the wild card acts could be... They were apparently chosen not by the category mentor but the other judges...

Lola Saunders was apparently spotted at the contestant house, so she could be Cheryl's...Whereas it's hoped that Overload are picked as Louis'.

HOLLYOAKS - Layers of Love

We all know that if you need a bit of crazy drama in your daily life, then head to Hollyoaks. Not physically, as you may be at risk of being seriously injured by a (little) Big Bob or stalked by Sienna - but from the comfort of your sofa's - head on over and watch other people's dramas unfold before you.

This week's hospital siege was not only dramatic in the sense of guns and hostages, but in new love twists.

In my opinion, this was just what Hollyoaks needed. Seriously...

Sure, we have Tony and Sinead, along with Dodger, Maxine, Sienna, Patrick (and soon to be Theresa!) but these new twists are really going to inject a bit of excitement, I think.

Firstly, Lindsey and Freddie.

'But we've been here before,' I hear you say. Well, yes, we have, although not in this way.

A little recap: Linds' and Fred had a fling, after years of Freddie being in love with her. Even though she was engaged to his brother, Joe. The fling happened because Freddie thought that Joe had been killed by Fraser Black, even though we all knew he hadn't - and the rest of the family thought he'd run off with another woman. Back comes Joe, much to everyone's surprise, Lindsey and he reconcile and Lindsey is, of course, pregnant.

After telling Freddie that she took a paternity test on her unborn son, and that Joe is definitely the father, we all knew deep-down that Lindsey didn't know the real truth after all. She forged a result to show him.

As Freddie lay badly injured, after being shot by (little) Big Bob, Lindsey crumbled. She loved him! We all saw it, didn't we? I almost cheered when she revealed that she didn't know who the dad was and that Freddie had to live, because he could be her son's dad.

Of course, Freddie survived, and in the aftermath, he told Lindsey that he wouldn't cause any trouble. She was better off with Joe. Our Linds' didn't actually look too thrilled. It looks to me like she's fallen for Freddie, and will be the one chasing him...

The second love story - which excites me most as a fan - is Tegan and Ziggy, Who the heck saw THAT coming?

Sharing a passionate snog in the lift, before it plummeted to the ground, the pair had definite chemistry.

Of course Ziggy's ex and Tegan's sister, Leela, has since decided that she might want Zggy back after helping to rescue the pair.

Where will this lead?

I see a massive story on the horizon here, and the Lomax girls will have to fight for Ziggy... He loves Leela, but his chemistry with Tegan has come from nowhere and hit them both like a steam train...

Talking of trains - there's a certain crash on the horizon very soon, isn't there.

Who's gong to be the casualty of that one?!
