I'm relishing in the fact that it's Monday morning and I'm settled down on the sofa about to (finally) tune into my new favourite comedy series. Better late than never, eh.
Sadly, it's the last in the series of Trying Again - where Matt and Meg have tried, seemingly successfully so far, to get their relationship back on track after her affair with Iain - a doctor at the surgery she works in.
Last week, Iain suffered a bereavement, when he received the news that his mother had died. All at his engagement bash to Kate.
This week opened with the wondering of what would happen if Meg tried to comfort a grief-striken Iain? Would she try or would she keep her distance? How will Matt feel about the sudden shift of events? Will our Trying Again couple make it in the end or will it be a case of history repeating itself with Meg and Iain, leaving Meg and Matt Trying Again, Again?
Gail, Matt's sister, gives the pair a £7000 deposit for their new house at the beginning of the ep, so all starts off brilliantly... Until Iain fails to turn up for work, sending Meg to go to his house to look for him, while she should be at the bank with Matt getting their mortgage. Oh dear!
Iain is in bits, Meg calls Matt.
She's going to take Iain to Edinburgh to see his mums body. Matt looks worried, but need he be?
"I love you and only you," Meg tells him. I believe her, but I'm not sure if Matt does.
Matt's friend and colleague, Sam, meanwhile, wants to send Matt on a 'date' with Chloe, who fancies Matt, to save his own skin.
It's an awkward threesome-type date, but not in that way!
Chloe wants Matt alone - moral Matt can't flirt back - Sam wants Matt to get Chloe on side.
All the while, Meg is offering platonic comfort to Iain, but has been ignoring Matt's calls. Why!
As you could imagine, Chloe soon leaves, and in enters Kate. Iain's fiancée... Who could, it turns out, have been free to take Iain to Scotland, but she believes that Iain didn't want her there.
Kate plants seeds in Matt's head. "My fiancé is in love with your girlfriend. And your girlfriend is in love with him."
What's Kate's game? And as Meg drives away, leaving Iain at Kate's, is she following her heart or her head? Does Matt believe what Kate says about Iain and Meg? And is he really as moral as he likes to believe?
I don't want to ruin the end, in case you haven't managed to yet see it. (And if you haven't you've got to catch up On Demand!)
But oh my goodness! I couldn't have dreamt of a better finish.
Mainly because it's been left so open ended, it will be impossible for there not to be a second series.
I certainly hope there will be! (And Im also hopeful for a Gail and Sam wedding, too!!)
