Ofcom have reportedly received many, complaints from viewers about Monday evening's scenes - but Rape Crisis have this morning praised the soap for highlighting the important subject.
For me, it was harrowing viewing - I felt claustrophobic watching it. And the actual attack came from nowhere... He way Dean so calmly went through with his crime.
To attack Linda in the Carter kitchen, a staple place for the famiy as a whole will have a rippling effect. Linda will no longer be able to share a meal with her family, as we saw last night, without the reminder.
Some have even said that Dean has not only raped Linda, but attacked the entire Carter family.
For those who did complain about the scenes - EastEnders had signposted the episode, so those who didn't want to tune in had the opportunity to not do so.
I think that it was a brave move, to highlight rape in a family environment, as the Rape Crisis charity echoed.
Also, seeing how both Linda and Dean have responded has been very interesting... We're almost screaming at Linda to tell someone. Which she has tried to do. But with Dean saying 'thanks' and that he 'won't tell' shows that he believes that he's done nothing wrong, and therefore making Linda feel guilty...
I think this was a brave plot to follow through on - for both EastEnders as a show and for Kellie Bright and Matt Di Angelo, as actors.
The story is set to grow even more heartbreaking, as Linda has a panic over daughter Nancy's blossoming relationship with Dexter, grows more distant from her family, all before discovering that she's pregnant.
What did you all think of this week's episodes, so far?
