WATERLOO ROAD - Final scenes to be filmed today

It's a sad day for fans of Waterloo Road, as the school-set drama films its final scenes today.

After announcing that the BBC were not going to commission any further series' of the telly favourite, fans were promised that Waterloo Road would end on a high.

I think it's probably a good call. As a fan myself, I don't know how much more drama, tears and tragedies can ripple through one school! And if Waterloo Road had continued, it was at risk of becoming repetitive and not going out remembered for all the fab, funny and teary plots it's given us during its run.

Actress, Laurie Brett, who plays Waterloo Road headteacher Christine Mulgrew will be heading back to Albert Square after filming to pick up her role as Jane Beale in EastEnders.

The next ten Waterloo Road episode are expected to air this year, with the final series due in 2015 - so we've still got a little way to go before we close those school gates forever!
