June Brown is taking centre stage |
Viewers met Lee, son of Mick and Linda Carter, in April when he visited his family, having taken leave from the Army.
Real life soldiers were also said to be present during the filming of the scenes.
Dot, played by June Brown, once had a stand alone monologue episode, being the only character so far to do so. The character has often spoken about her War experiences from when she was a child - having happily been evacuated to Wales and bought up by a couple she calls Auntie Gwen and Uncle Will.
Lee Carter will soon be a permanent fixture on Albert Square |
Digital Spy spoke to an EastEnders source who said:
"The show thought it was really important to mark the Centenary."
EastEnders will air these special scenes in August.
